Needle-like calcareous spicules present in the skin. Overall body-length up to 4 mm. Head bearing flattened or cylindrical oral tentacles which are of greater size than the digitiform rhinophores; eyes (if present) situated close to the bases of the rhinophores. The digestive gland in life exhibits shining internal partitions. The genital system is hermaphrodite.
