Familia Psammobiidae

Shell equivalve, or slightly inequivalve; almost equilateral, with beaks just in front of midline. Ligament external, supported by a distinct plate posterior to beaks. Two cardinal teeth in each valve, usually unequal, one or both typically bifid. No lateral teeth. Pallial line with sinus.
