Familia Rhopalomeniidae

Body with a relatively smooth surface, the integument consisting of a thick cuticle pierced by stalked epidermal papillae and covered by several layers of hollow, needle-like calcareous spicules. The radula sometimes absent or, if present, it is distich, consisting of serially arranged, forceps-like denticulations. Secondary respiratory organs are absent in the mantle cavity. Hermaphrodite without copulatory armature but an unpaired secondary sexual orifice.
