Emarginula crassa

(Sowerby, 1813)

Description (shell):
In general like other Emarginula species. Finely reticulate, seems rather smooth. With about 50 radiating costae.

Size:
Up to 30 x 20 x 15 mm.

Colour:
White.

Animal:
Foot with about 30 epipodial tentacles.

Habitat:
Under stones, rarely at LWST, more frequent sublittorally to 200 m.

Distribution:
Northern species which is limited in Britain to west Scotland, Orkney and Shetland (Distr. E. crassa). Also recorded from south-west Ireland and Antrim. Commoner in Norway and Iceland.
