Familia Loliginidae

d'Orbigny, 1848

Internal shell reduced to a slender, horny pen. Body slender, with well-developed fins equivalent to more than half length of mantle. Arms relatively short. Dorsal anterior mantle edge produced, extending between eyes. Male with left ventral arm hectocotylized.
