Familia Aporrhaiidae

Gray, 1850

Shell tall, with costae and fine spiral striae. Last whorl in mature shells with prominent spiral rows of tubercles and a palmate extension to the outer lip. Last whorl in juveniles with a strong spiral ridge below periphery, and an elongate-oval aperture, drawn out basally into a sharp point. Operculum narrow, set across the foot.
