Body sometimes protected by an ample non-spiculose dorsal mantle with complex branchial ridges under the rim, or bearing simple or branched dorso-lateral processes; these excrescences may contain tributaries of the digestive gland but never cnidosacs; rhinophoral tentacles contractile but never retractile into elaborate basal sheaths; anus antero-dorsal or antero-lateral, on the right side.
