Shell patelliform, with sharp apex, or a depressed hemisphere of variable height; internal partition present. Ciliary feeders, with an enlarged mantle cavity and ctenidium; large propodial flap on either side of the neck. Foot large, oval, without an operculum. Protandrous hermaphrodites.
