Familia Elysiidae

Shell absent. Body smooth, flattened, leaf-like, with wide parapodial lobes (absent in juvenile specimens), which contain ramifying tributaries of the digestive gland. Oral tentacles are lacking, but the head bears inrolled rhinophoral tentacles.
The anal opening is antero-lateral, on the right side. The radula teeth often bear fine denticulations. The penis is unarmed.
