Genus Hanleya

Gray J.E., 1857

Contains species of varying sizes. The valves are distinctly sculptured with randomly distributed, raised dorsal papillae. The head valve bears an insertion plate lacking any notches, valves 2-8 have no insertion plates. The girdle is narrow and densely covered by small spicules with numerous larger spines randomly distributed.
