Familia Nuculanidae

Shell subtriangular or irregularly oval in outline, often slender and rostrate posteriorly; equivalve, inequilateral, umbones anterior to midline. Hinge line with taxodont teeth in two distinct series, separated by a small chondrophore supporting the internal ligament. Adductor muscle scars about equal; pallial line faint, with a small sinus.
