Familia Pandoridae

Rafinesque, 1815

Shell inequivalve, left valve convex, overlapping the thin, flat right valve. Ligament internal, in a prominent ridge-like chondrophore. Right valve with a single, ridged, tooth-like structure, with a corresponding pit in the left, but true teeth absent. Pallial line comprising a disjunct series of small round scars, without a sinus.
