Shell elongate, equivalve, inequilateral: umbones at anterior end. Gaping anteriorly and posteriorly. Ligament external. One or two peg-like cardinal teeth in each valve; lateral teeth present or absent. Adductor scars unequal, anterior typically elongate, posterior small. Pallial sinus present.
