Caecum clarkii

Description:
Shell curved and glossy. Apex sealed by a pointed, calcareous plug. The outer surface of the tube is completely smooth and the shell has a smaller diameter than Caecum trachea .

Size:
Up to 2 mm.

Colour:
White. Periostracum light or dark brown.

Habitat:
Living interstitial between grains of coarse to medium sand in the infralittoral.

Distribution:
As far north as northern Brittany along the Atlantic coast. Probably not reaching the North Sea.
