Volvulella acuminata

Description:
Shell is fragile and delicate. The form of the shell is slender, especially narrowed at the two extremities.

Size:
The body measures up to 6 mm.

Colour:
Translucent white.

Animal:
The cephalic disc is produced postero-laterally to form flattened, ear-shaped (not sharply pointed) tentacular processes. The diet is unknown.

Habitat:
Lives sublittorally in muddy sand, down to 800 m.

Distribution:
Distributed from Norway to the Mediterranean and Angola, not in the southern North Sea (Distr. V. acuminata).
