Gray J.E., 1821
Oval to elongate-oval animals with valve sculpturing varying from almost smooth to uniformly granulose with the lateral areas only very indistinctly defined. The head valve and tail valve each have many notches in their insertion plates, the intermediate valves typically have a single pair of notches. The girdle is covered in granules of different sizes and fringed by a row of bluntly pointed spines. Animals range from merobranchial to holobranchial.
