Alder & Hancock, 1845

Phanerobranchiate, soft, limaciform doridaceans with the mantle skirt reduced to form a rim which often bears elongated papillae situated laterally and on the frontal margin. Rhinophores lamellate, sometimes arising from well-developed sheaths, more often lacking such sheaths. Head with flattened oral lobes, or grooved oral tentacles. Feeding upon erect and encrusting bryozoans.
The penis bears numerous hooked spines. The buccal mass does not possess a muscular pump. Chitinous jaws are usually present, often exhibiting a prominent wing-like process. Radula 2-8.2.0.2-8, the second laterals especially strongly developed.
