Description:
This species measures up to 2.5 mm in extended length. The body colour is pale, often slightly pink or brownish. Needle-like spicules are densely arranged over the visceral mass, with a few also on the head. Eyes are lacking. The oral tentacles are finger-like, not flattened.
Habitat:
The acochlidiaceans occur in the interstices of marine sand and gravel (occasionally exhibiting adaptations to lowered salinity), presumably feeding upon the micro-organisms living in that environment.
Distribution:
In the North Sea a rare species. Elsewhere it has been recorded from the coast of Sweden (Distr. A. brambelli).
