Description (shell):
Shell similar to Euspira pulchella. Spire more elevated, with stepped profile and well-defined sutures. Outer lip arises almost at right angles to last whorl; umbilicus deep, round, occlusion by inner lip very slight (E. catena-drawing).
Size:
Up to 30 x 30 mm.
Colour:
Buff, lighter basally and on inner lip, with subsutural row of reddish-brown marks (E. catena). Younger shells may have additional, but very faint rows of marks on last whorl.
Animal:
As in Euspira pulchella .
Habitat:
On sand; LWST to 125 m.
Distribution:
Distributed from Mediterranean to Skagerrak (Distr. E. catena).
