Description (shell):
Shell small, conical, apex near anterior margin, with blister-like protoconch. Sculpture of fine reticulation, radial ridges may be papillate. No internal apical septum, anterior limit of horseshoe-shaped muscle scar lies at same level as apex.
Size:
Up to 7 x 5 x 2.5 mm.
Colour:
Orange-yellow (occasionally white), opaque.
Animal:
Body patelliform, similar to Lepeta caeca. White.
Habitat:
Sublittoral, on stony ground from 5-200 m.
Distribution:
Distributed from Iceland southwards, at increasing depth (to 600 m), to the Azores. More common than Lepeta caeca in the British Isles (Distr. I. fulva).
