Description:
Shell rather solid, glossy, slender fusiform, with six or seven whorls, the last whorl comprising about two-thirds of the total shell height. Surface is smooth, with no visible sculpture. Aperture is elongate oval; outer lip is thin, slightly flared abapically; inner lip is thickened, with two strong folds on columella, projecting into the aperture as well marked teeth.
Size:
Up to 6 mm long.
Colour:
Glossy white.
Habitat:
Upper shore, in crevices and among seaweeds, particularly on sheltered estuarine shores.
Distribution:
Reported from scattered localities around southern half of Britain and on all Irish coasts. May be locally common, but seems to be absent from the North Sea.
