Euspira pallida

(Broderip & Sowerby G.B.I., 1829)

Description (shell):
Whorls slightly tumid, sutures well marked. Outer lip arises at right angles to the last whorl. In most respects like other Euspira species but distincts in small size of umbilicus, the reduction of ridges entering it, the broad columellar lip and generally pale colour.

Size:
Up to 20 x 18 mm.

Colour:
White or cream, sometimes brownish or with brown flecks.

Animal:
Like that of other Euspira species.

Habitat:
Clay bottoms, 10-2000 m deep, the greater depths in the southern part of range.

Distribution:
Circumpolar, records from British Isles are few and mainly northern (Distr. E. pallida).
