Description (shell):
Glossy; cylindrical, with longitudinal striations.

Size:
Shell up to 5 mm, total length up to 7 mm.

Colour:
Translucent white or yellowish.

Animal:
Body white. Cephalic shield indented anteriorly at midline, cephalic tentacles pointed. Foot elongate, with rounded corners, indented anteriorly.

Habitat:
Burrows in sand, muddy sand, and mud; lower intertidal to about 50 m. Feeds on Hydrobia ulvae and perhaps foraminiferans and small lamellibranchs.

Distribution:
Common in the North Sea (Distr. R. truncatula).
